Why did we choose to create a swimming hall?

We came up with this idea when we talked about the new swimming hall that is going to be built in Enköping in the upcoming years. We did some research on what temperatures pools in a swimming hall are kept at and what sizes the pools of the new hall would be and found some good information. The model of the building is constructed so all these things can fit and still make the swimming hall a well functional environmentThe biggest reason why we chose to work on this project in the end was because we wanted to show how simple it is to make a big difference in your everyday life. Starting off the project we didn’t know much about energy solar panels can provide but figured it would be more than enough, so after finishing up our research we found that they will provide us with more than enough energy. We understand that solar panels aren’t the cheapest option but we believe that you in the end you will save money and at the same time help the environment.  

How did we do it?

We have calculated how much energy is required to heat all swimming pools including all showers in the swimming hall, we have estimated that it will need around 87000 kWh per year. Solar panels provides about 1380 kWh/m2 per year. To cover the needs of energy it will require an estimate of 65m2 of solar panels covering the roof. The roof of the swimming hall is significantly larger than 65m2 therefor if required there can be extra solar panels added to the construction.

What can we learn from this?

Our calculations might not be perfectly correct and there might be some minor flaws on missing out on some things that could require as well energy but, as stated earlier, we have more than enough energy than is required and can of course spare that. This is a great way to provide large buildings that uses more energy than a regular size building and sun energy is renewable energy.
